Common questions

TikTok username tips explained.

What are TikTok's username rules?
TikTok handles can be 4–24 characters long. Allowed characters: letters (a–z), numbers (0–9), underscores (_) and periods (.). They can't start or end with a period, and you can't have two periods in a row. The generator follows all these rules automatically.
How can I check if a username is available?
Tap the ↗ arrow on any generated username — it opens "https://www.tiktok.com/@<name>" in a new tab. If TikTok shows "Couldn't find this account", it's free for you to grab.
Why do TikTok handles use dots so much?
When your first-choice name is taken, dots let you keep the name readable while making it unique — "luna" → "luna.daily" or "miss.luna". They're visually clean and have become a TikTok aesthetic in themselves.
What's the difference between username and display name?
The username (handle) is your @name — what people type to find you, lowercase, no spaces, only letters/numbers/dots/underscores. The display name is the bigger name shown on your profile — you can use any characters there, including emoji and capital letters. This generator creates usernames.
How often can I change my TikTok username?
TikTok lets you change your handle once every 30 days. So pick something you'll actually like for a month — "Save to favorites" any candidates you're unsure about and sleep on them.
Will the same username work on Instagram?
Often yes — Instagram has similar rules (3–30 chars, letters/numbers/dots/underscores). If your TikTok handle is free, check Instagram too: "https://www.instagram.com/<name>". Many creators grab both at once.
Are my favorites private?
Completely. They're saved only in your browser — never sent anywhere, never shared. Clearing your browser data wipes them.
